Statements of Beliefs

Bible

We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God supernaturally inspired, without error in the original text and it is preserved by God so that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and for all people.

2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 15:4a; 2 Peter 1:20-21

God

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are one God.

John 1:1; Colossians 2:9; Ephesians 4:4-6; John 10:30

Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across racial, gender, and class differences.

We believe that Jesus is the Christ and the only begotten Son of God; that in the flesh He was both God and man; He was born of a virgin; He lived a sinless life; He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sins, was bodily raised from the dead on the third day. Later He ascended to the Father’s right hand where He is Head of the Church and intercedes for believers and He is personally coming again for His Church.

Matthew 16:16; John 1:1, John 1:14; Matthew 1:23; Matthew 17:5

Creation

We believe in God as absolute and sole Creator of the universe, and that creation was by divine decree.

Genesis 1:1-2:25; John 1:1

Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person; is God; possesses all the divine attributes. He indwells all believers and imparts spiritual gifts to every believer.

Romans 8:27; 1 Corinthians 12:11-13; Acts 2:38; John 14:26

Lord’s Supper

We believe that Christians are commanded to keep the Lord’s Supper as a memorial unto Him and as a reminder that they are living in a new covenant relationship with God; that they are to partake only in a worthy manner, and that they are to meet and partake until He comes again.

Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-27

Baptism

We believe that baptism is by immersion (“baptizo” – to dip, plunge or submerge); and while it is not redemptive, it is a vital part of the coming under the Lordship (leadership) of Jesus as it is commanded in Scripture.

Acts 2:38; Ephesians 4:5; 1 Peter 3:21, Matthew 3:11, Matthew 28

Salvation

We believe that Jesus saves us, and not only us but also whomever places their faith in Him.

John 3:16-18; Acts 16:31; Luke 13:3; 2 Corinthians 7:10; 2 Peter 3:9; Romans 10:9-10; Matthew 10:32-33; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-14, Ephesians 2:8-10

Heaven and Hell

We believe in a literal and eternal Heaven and Hell. After the Last Judgment, Heaven will be the eternal home of all those justified by faith and residing in the divine presence of God. Hell will be the eternal home of Satan, his fallen angels and the lost.

John 14:2-3; Revelation 20:10-15; Revelation 21:1-8
